What Omega sold in 2018

Omega launched the fifth-generation Constellation in 2018. The line took the name Manhattan. Men's models measured 39 mm. Cases held Co-Axial Master Chronometer calibres from the 8800 family. Each movement passed METAS certification and resisted magnetic fields to 15,000 gauss. Dial layout, date position, bezel finish, and case metal change with the reference number. Treat any single spec as reference-specific, not line-wide.

Movement checks

Many 2018 Constellations have a display caseback. If the watch has one, look through it. A Master Chronometer rotor carries METAS wording and an eight-digit serial. Counterfeit cases hold generic or clone movements, such as a Seagull ST2130 or an ETA 2824 copy. Those run at 28,800 vph but lack the Co-Axial escapement and the silicon balance spring. A timing machine shows the gap in rate stability and amplitude. Ask the seller for a movement photo with the rotor in view.

Case and bracelet checks

The claws at 3 and 9 o'clock are the Constellation signature. On genuine 2018 cases they sit flush with the bezel edge, and the gaps around them stay even. Fakes leave tool marks, uneven gaps, and soft edges. Bracelet links on genuine watches move without rattle. The clasp closes with a solid click and carries the Omega mark and the reference code. Check the crown: it sits centered, and the logo faces up when the crown is screwed down. Look at the caseback engraving under a loupe. Genuine engraving has depth and clean borders. Laser-cut engraving looks shallow and gray.

Dial and hands

The Omega symbol on a genuine dial is applied metal with sharp edges. Dial text is crisp. Applied markers have polished bevels and flat tops. Lume plots sit inside the marker frames. Hands have beveled flanks and clean slots. The date disc aligns with the window frame. Fakes show ragged print, off-center markers, and dust under the crystal.

Box, papers, and serials

Genuine sets include a warranty card with the reference number, the serial, and the purchase date. Model and serial must match the caseback and the movement. Omega service centers can check a serial against their records. Counterfeit sets use generic cards with mismatched numbers and misspelled model names. A missing card is not proof of a fake. A mismatched number is proof of a problem.

Legal note
