Short answer
A 43 mm IWC Pilot's Watch copy is a counterfeit. It is built to look like the Big Pilot's Watch 43, ref. IW329301. The genuine watch runs an in-house IWC Calibre 82100. Copies run a Miyota, a Seagull, or a decorated generic movement. Seller prices sit between about $200 and $700. Genuine retail is in the four figures.

What sellers mean by "copy"
Labels such as 1:1, AAA, Swiss movement, and clone are seller terms. No standard defines them. Two sellers can use one label for watches from different factories, so the label tells you little about the unit you receive.

Where copies differ from the original
- Movement: no IWC 82100. Beat rate, winding feel, and rotor noise differ.
- Case height and weight: copies often sit taller and lighter.
- Dial: text weight, index edges, and lume color vary from the original.
- Crystal: some units ship with mineral glass, not sapphire.
- Water resistance: not tested to 100 m. Gaskets and crown threads are unverified.
- Service: no IWC parts, no warranty, no service center.
Legal status in the US
Counterfeit watches are illegal goods. Trafficking carries criminal penalties under 18 U.S.C. 2320. Customs and Border Protection can seize and destroy shipments under 19 U.S.C. 1526. Buying for personal use does not make the item legal to import.
What photos cannot show
Listings use studio images, not the shipped unit. Photos do not show movement finish, gasket condition, crown thread tolerance, or lume brightness after dark. Ask for images of the actual piece when comparing listings. A seller who will not supply them gives no basis for comparison.

IWC lists case height and weight for each reference on its site. Replica sellers do not publish measured figures, so any height claim on a listing is unverified.
