"Master Compresso" is a common search spelling for the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Compressor Chronograph. No replica factory publishes production numbers or calibre specs. Buyers judge these watches on four things: movement type, case diameter, dial layout and crown hardware. A Valjoux 7750 based replica can only copy the gen dial if the gen uses the same subdial positions. Check that against a reference photo before you pay.

The genuine reference

Jaeger-LeCoultre built the Master Compressor line around a compression key system. Two keys near 2 and 4 o'clock turn to lock the crown and the chronograph pushers. Ask for the calibre number and a photo of the movement. A 7750 carries a 30-minute counter at 12. If the genuine dial places its counters elsewhere, a 7750 replica dial will not match.

Case and hardware

Measure the case with calipers. Replica cases run from 40 mm to 43 mm. Check the compression keys. On the genuine watch they turn and lock. On many replicas they are fixed, or they screw in and lock nothing. Check crown threads under light. Cross-threading shows up in the first week of use.
